| 1. NAME: DURI NAIMJI, MA, MAYOR
Candidate of TORONTO, NOV. 10, 2003.
2. WHAT I would do if elected MAYOR
includes the following PRIORITIES:
ENSURE: that the whole city of TORONTO is SAFER,
CLEANER, HEALTHIER,
LOVELIER, and RICHER
than it has been…
3. HOW: Using sound political
theory, a negotiating style, care, democratic leadership Skills,
I will ensure that competent, committed,
reliable persons chair the various Committees of Council, Commissions,
task forces, departments, and Other bodies.

• Will ENSURE: that suitable officials effectively do
their jobs and their duties. : that meetings make well-informed
, well-debated decisions for prompt action to provide essential
services.
• Will strive for a BALANCE among the several interests
of different communities, Industries, workers, residents,.. No
sector to thrive at the expense of another. All have a RIGHT
to living well In TORONTO
within the LAW, including disadvantaged people...
• Will initiate, or support action to increase public transportation,
grow more trees, flowers,
grass, having cleaner WATER
pipes; Carry out more tests for cleaner AIR
in and out of buildings and follow up on recommendations to purify
it.

• Will ENSURE spending within
means, in an affordable city, meeting needs
of POOR, disadvantaged, students, elderly, sick, homeless, widows,
new- comers.. Unemployed, people living on less than $30,000 yearly…
• Will ensure that no one sleeps
in the COLD, or is in need of bed
and bread, TTC Transportation... SOCIAL, economic, support, until
they manage on their own.
• Will COUNT on CIVIC-MINDEDNESS
of residents, citizens, of TORONTO, To PARTICIPATE
in voting, to be more COMPASSIONATE, with homeless. Welcoming
to visitors, .To view the city as belonging to them; and not to
OFFICIALS at CITY HALL. Or vehicle drivers or anyone else.
• Will work in PARTNERSHIP with
other levels of government, other cities, With RESIDENTS,
VISITORS, officials; rather than blaming, stupidly IMITATING or
irritating them. A mayor leads no party to expect obedience from
councillors!
• Will lead by EXAMPLE, in respectable
life style. Show respect for ALL.
Ride TTC and still PAY own fare. NO pay raise unless approved by
residents.
• Will ensure current LAWS, ACTION
PLANS, are carried out as far as possible. As in many great cities,
two term limit in office for mayor and councillors ‘As more
than two terms tend to bring indolence and corruption in office!

4. PS. Voters will be urged to dump those who failed to stop
the $85M. MFP computer DEAL. Some people,
including councillors, spoke after
the deal! WHY? Why not before?
Can WE forget the other candidate in Toronto who was against the
NEW CITY and who had asked the courts to stop its creation? Should
such a person really lead the NEW CITY?
5. WHY: I stand for office from a
sense of DUTY and an unwillingness
to bear an unsuitable mayor again! TORONTO needs a MAYOR above
mediocre! My experiences as teacher, cricket umpire,
security guard, dishwasher, TV viewer of City Hall, troubadour…
Representative of graduate students should be useful to see that
essential services are received
by the people of this city of Diversity
and needy in majority. Which one to
hire for mayor? A costly fop or a
cheap chap?
